The council can delegate the performance of some of its statutory powers and functions to an appointed committee. Tanworth in Arden currently has 4 Committees –
- Planning
- Staffing
- Road Safety & Speeding
- Finance
The council determines a Term of Reference which sets out the responsibilities for each committee. Committee members are appointed each year at the Annual Meeting of the council. Agendas and minutes are produced for each committee meeting and, unless the nature of business is confidential, members of the public are invited to attend. All recommendations and delegated decisions made by a committee must be reported back to full council at the next meeting.
There are currently 3 Working Parties –
- Play Area
- Anti-Social Behaviour
- Footpath Lighting
Working parties are informal groups who collect and collate information on a specific project to present to Full Council. They are not formal Committees and hold no power to implement any decision.
